The Winsom Cristo Rey Art Project started in 2005 when Winsom started teaching art to the children of Cristo Rey Village R.C School. In 2006 the children of the art program were invited to participate in Children’s Week, which show cased their work in the village. In May 2007 the children were invited to show their work in Belize City at the Image Factory Art Gallery.
In the project Winsom taught arts education weekly to the children of Cristo Rey, using a variety of mediums including fabric, macramé and puppetering. All projects were designed to provide the children not only with exposure to the arts but to a useable skill that can be potentially used as an income generator in the future.In2008 the children entered a National Art Competition. Five of the students work was selected as semi-finalists and one student work was selected for the calendar for 2009.
